How does the Midnight Library Add On work? Why are titles missing? Can I order print versions? How will you know which titles I want?

Since the Contagion Chronicle is a crossover event within the Chronicles of Darkness game lines, the Midnight Library Add On is a way to fill in some holes in your CoD core rules library. The Add On process itself will be explained in greater detail in an update near the end of the campaign, but basically increasing your total pledge amount will allow you to claim additional rewards in our post-campaign Pledge Management system, BackerKit.

We’e set it up with a “The More You Want, the More You Save” system, so incremental rewards from the Midnight Library will cost less per unit. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer Print-on-Demand versions at this time. Due to the nature of kickstarter (and related fees) and the way our licensing works, we couldn’t offer the PoD versions of these available titles any cheaper than you can already find them on DrivethruRPG. So, if you’re looking for the PoD versions of these titles, you can go to Drivethrurpg.com now and purchase them.

The titles we’ve included in the Midnight Library are the relevant rulebooks for the Chronicles of Darkness that are currently available. We didn’t include anything forthcoming or in production - we want to be able to deliver these rewards as swiftly as possible, so confine the list to existing and available products only.

In our post-campaign Pledge Manager, BackerKit, you will confirm your rewards and select your Add On items. When you select the Midnight Library rewards, you will confirm which title(s) you are interested in. Only during our BackerKit phase - after the kickstarter has completed - will you be confirming your Add On and specific title selection.

When will we receive our rewards?

The estimated delivery date listed on your Reward Tier indicates expected fulfillment for the Contagion Chronicle. For the PDF, it is expected to be delivered to all backers by July 2020. For the prestige hardcover edition, it is expected to be delivered to all backers who have correctly confirmed their shipping address by December 2020. If the projects are completed before these dates, they will be sent to backers as soon as they are ready.

Additional rewards, particularly those generated as Stretch Goals, will be delivered as they become available. As the Contagion Chronicle book is the main focus of the program, many Stretch Goal rewards may not be developed or worked on until after this book is completed.

Will shipping be EU-friendly?

Onyx Path will contract a third-party fulfillment & logistics partner to handle distribution duties of the physical rewards for this Kickstarter campaign. The shipping charges added to your pledge level cover only these shipping and handling costs - any additional fees incurred for delivery (VAT, customs or import taxes) - are the responsibility of the backer at this time.

Our third-party logistics partner may have an agreement with an EU-based partner to minimize some of these extra charges (primarily VAT) for EU-based customers. However, that will be an arrangement made between our logistics partner and another organization, so Onyx Path cannot guarantee the procedure for EU shipping.

In summary, we’ll contract a third-party shipper who will certainly attempt to negotiate a method for making the shipping EU-friendly, but at this early stage, no set-up is yet in place to ensure this is the case and we cannot promise that the situation will change.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
